Design at Source were asked to lead the design team, that would produce an inspirational reception, bar and lounge for the first, Genting Hotel, in the UK.
The interior space was to reflect the demands of a four star hotel, with all the service requirements this entails, while the interior design was to portray the hotel’s quiet, opulence. The location occupied a prime location in the new Resorts World, leisure and retail complex, with busy malls surrounding all facades.
The team anylised customer flow, behaviour and interaction, in order to shape the reception desk and greeting space. Staff interaction analysis formed the back-of-house spaces and their realtionship with the public space.
The resultant, reception desk and greeting area were clad in rich timber panels, intricately inlaid with bass sheet, to give an inviting and warm welcome to hotel guests.
Off to one side of the reception, lay the impressive, double-height, hotel bar. The team designed a large, double-glazed, screen backing onto the busy, mall escalators. Glimpses of guests travelling up to the first floor, leisure activities, within Resorts World, provided a tantilising, back drop to the bar. Seating zones were designed in front of the bar, providing the perfect location for impromptu meetings and meeting points for hotel guests. A spyralling, glass chandelier, suspended in the double-height space, gave a further talking point and “Wow” factor, drawing people through the bar.
