The Muddy Oar – Stratford-upon-Avon

HomeDiningDrinkingRecent ProjectsThe Muddy Oar – Stratford-upon-Avon

About the Project

Design at Source were approached to develop an all-day drinking and dining brand for this venue, located near the historic town of Stratford, on the picturesque banks of the River Avon.

The name Muddy Oar was put forward by Design at Source to reflect the venue’s location and Design at Source communicated this in the logo, which presented a contemporary twist on the traditional, pub, coat of arms. This translated into the branding and menu’s artwork.

The Muddy Oar has a strong riverside theme, from the building’s striking porthole windows and bow-shaped timber-ribbed ceiling and quirky décor. The bar has become the true focal point to the space, with the design striking a careful balance – overtones of a modern coffee bar, mixed with more tradional, details, associated with a contemporary pub.

The result is a new bar environment that offers an all-day experience. Design at Source were able to establish an equilibrium between a bright, comfortable impression for the early coffee trade to a warm, moody, ambience for evening drinking and dining.

To portray a hamronious whole, Design at Source were employed to produce an accompanying brand to the neighbouring restaurant. The Galley Kitchen concept was developed to carry the riverside theme.  This was reflected in the production of new menu’s and window graphics.
